While emotions are automatic physiological responses to experiences, feelings are more complex than emotions, as they depend on how we perceive our circumstances. While emotions are universal and programmed into us, feelings vary from person to person, shaping our decisions and life experiences.
“Hidden feelings” are those emotions, sensations and interpretations that reside beneath the surface of our conscious awareness. They're influenced by past experiences, memories, and conditioning, and often drive our decisions and reactions without us even realizing it.
I think they also drive synchronicity.
Synchronicity is often attributed to fate or destiny, but recognizing the role of hidden feelings in shaping synchronicity offers a powerful tool for personal growth and self-awareness. Over a year ago, my brother Sunjya texted me with an invitation to audition for his band. I said no, thanks. I was too busy building my business!
But when I learned that the band canceled rehearsal because they didn't have a keyboard player, I looked a little deeper inside. I heard a still, small voice in me that said “I really want to do this!” I wrote him back and told him I was in!
A year and a half later I'm still with the band, we just had practice last night, and it's really fulfilling to me.
The band's name? “Enjoyus”.
While I was focused on one avenue for fulfillment, my hidden feelings were active in bringing about a different opportunity. By recognizing the role of our subconscious emotions in shaping the circumstances we encounter, we can harness the power of synchronicity and live more intentional, fulfilling lives.
