Why Listening Is Important In the Multiverse

Choice is important. And what an exciting time we live in, filled with so many choices about our future!

When we think about choice, I think it helps to understand the model of the multiverse. I think there is order and organization to how choice works. There is a karmic cause and effect. There are windows of opportunity which open, when situations are aligned and able to be changed, and each of those windows, at some point, closes.

For instance, the Infrastructure Bill in the US Congress, and the related Reconciliation Bill which invests in Climate and Communities is an amazing chance to aim for a healthier future. The door is open! Come September, October, and November, that door gradually will close.

Depersonalize and Personalize the Choices

To understand the multiverse is to both depersonalize and personalize the choices. Through our actions we are telling the world what matters to us. It’s not personal. We aren’t bad people for making bad choices. We’re just directing the ship, and there is a lot of power in how we direct our ship.

Instead of saying to myself, “It doesn’t matter what I do, nothing will change,” I find it helpful to shift focus from external results onto becoming the person I want to be. So our choices are also very personal. For instance, learning how to value my voice and use it, to speak openly and vulnerably, to develop courage to be bold when needed.

This matters. I have seen over and over how life gives me opportunities to put my voice and my body into action. I don’t focus on who is listening or how successful I was at implementing new policy, but rather how well I lived into my purpose.

More than anything, I think our challenge is that not enough of us feel empowered in our lives nor understand the way that life responds to our choices. This is why understanding synchronicity is important.

We can become more practiced at the systematic way that opportunity follows intention and action.

Try it right now. Commit to something. If you don’t know how to implement it, look carefully at what action you could take that would further cement your resolve. Do that. Then keep looking and listening. I bet you that a “next step” will emerge. That’s synchronicity. Sure, it’s a long way from there to addressing social justice and climate justice. It takes a long time to achieve wholeness on the inside and on the outside. But that’s the path. Commit, act and listen. Repeat it. This is how I find my flow, and I bet we can tackle some pretty big problems with this shift.

Synchronicity is about listening

The secret sauce is how we listen. This is where we sift through our filters and biases to really relate to other people’s needs. Do you know how to take a difficult personal situation and listen to what it’s teaching you? Do you know how to experience setbacks and become more open rather than more closed?

Listening sincerely is a promising way to navigate the differences between us. It’s a willingness to feel instead of judge. It’s not simple! But it is nicely captured in that single word, listen.

When we find our own, unique way of listening to life, that’s when we recognize synchronicity around us all the time.
